A Praia do Gunga é um verdadeiro paraíso em terras alagoanas, mais precisamente no município de Roteiro, um cartão-postal localizado a 35 quilômetros de Maceió. Não é em vão que a praia encabeça a lista das 10 praias mais bonitas do Brasil e é um dos destinos favoritos dos moradores da capital.

A praia do Gunga divide com as Galés de Maragogi o topo da lista de passeios mais desejados pelos turistas que compram pacotes para Maceió. Com coqueiros a perder de vista e águas cristalinas, ela encanta pela beleza natural incontestável e por ser capaz de agradar mesmo os mais exigentes.

A praia possui uma península, o que a torna ainda mais paradisíaca. Em sua ponta esquerda é possível avistar a Barra de São Miguel e o encontro do mar com a Lagoa do Roteiro. Este é o lado mais movimentado da praia, com quiosques à disposição dos turistas, que servem diversas opções de porções e pratos.

Já do outro lado encontram-se as maravilhosas falésias do Gunga, rochas íngremes de areia colorida, esculpidas pela natureza. Para chegar até ela, o turista pode optar pelo passeio de buggy (R$40 por pessoa.), quadriciclo (R$100 o casal), ou fazer uma longa caminhada pela praia quase deserta.

A praia também oferece piscinas naturais e aluguel de equipamentos náuticos. (Aquaflight, Banana Boat, Flyboat, Jet Skis, Aqua Bubble, Boias e etc).

Há duas formas de chegar ao Gunga. A primeira é pelo porto de Barra de São Miguel, onde é possível pegar embarcações, como lanchas ou escunas, que levam à praia (A travessia leva em torno de 20 minutos) ou seguir de carro pela AL 101 (O acesso com o carro à praia custa R$ 10,00).

Para quem opta em ir de lancha, há dois outros tipos de passeios oferecidos que saem à partir das 8 horas. O primeiro inclui uma parada nas piscinas formadas pelos arrecifes de corais e a ancoragem é nas Croas, grandes bancos de areias que se formam na foz da Lagoa do Roteiro.

O segundo passeio também inclui os aquários naturais, depois passa pelos manguezais, localizado na Ilha de Três Corações, e em seguida nas falésias de areias coloridas, para depois desembarcar no Gunga. Em ambos os roteiros, o turista pode escolher o horário de retorno para a Barra, mas não pode ultrapassar às 17h. Caso forem de pacotes turísticos, a maioria já inclui o passeio na programação semanal, levando e trazendo os turistas á partir do hotel, muito mais cômodo.

Na chegada à Praia do Gunga está um cartão de visita obrigatório para quem vem de fora: o Mirante do Gunga. Suba e surpreenda-se ao avistar o imenso coqueiral da fazenda do Gunga, a Lagoa do Roteiro e o mar com tons de azul caribenho. (Custa R$ 2,00 para o acesso ao mirante).
