Localizada na Barra de São Miguel e Roteiro, no litoral sul de Alagoas, a Vila Palatéia é um lugar mágico. Cercado por 750 hectares de paisagem natural, a Vila é a maior produtora de Ostras do Estado e uma das maiores mariculturas do Brasil – toda semana, mais de 8 mil ostras são vendidas ali.

Mesmo estando ao lado de destinos de grande destaque no turismo nacional, como Barra de São Miguel e Praia do Gunga, a vila ainda é um passeio pouco explorado. O acesso pode ser feitos de duas formas: barco ou carro, pela estrada de barro que fica a uns 5km da entrada mais antiga da Barra e a 40km do Holiday Inn Express Maceió Ponta Verde. Você chegará à vila de pescadores remanescentes quilombolas e indígenas que sobrevivem do cultivo e pesca na região.

É possível fazer o passeio de duas formas: contratando os barqueiros na hora ou contratando um guia especializado para fazer o passeio e receber uma aula sobre a flora, a fauna e as curiosidades da região.

O passeio é perfeito para quem deseja se conectar com a natureza e para quem quer ver paisagens incríveis. Durante o percurso é possível encontrar diversas espécies de pássaros e caranguejos. Entretanto, o que mais fascina é o fato de existirem três tipos de mangues diferentes na área: lama preta, vermelha e branca.

O passeio para o local inclui degustação e imersão total na rotina da comunidade. Provar ostra com um pouco de sal, limão e azeite é uma ótima pedida. Uma oportunidade de também conhecer a extração do sururu, patrimônio Imaterial de Alagoas, e o massunim, também conhecido como vôngole. Na experiência, também vale conhecer a produção de mel e própolis vermelha, artigo patenteado e em estudo para uso medicinal.
